Explore three emblematic wineries, admire the beautiful landscapes set between sea and mountains, and taste exceptional wines: refined rosés, powerful reds, and delicate whites. A sensory and fun experience under the Mediterranean sun, perfect for understanding the Provençal art-de-vivre and the secrets of its great wines.

9:30 a.m. : Departure from Nice - Your expert guide for the day will pick you up in front of the Beau Rivage Hotel, 24 Rue Saint-François de Paule, in a comfortable, air-conditioned van.

10:30 a.m. : Visit to our first estate - An extraordinary Château, a prestigious Cru Classé, owned by the same family for several centuries. Powerful, aromatic wines and with a story dating back to Antiquity. During your visit, you'll discover the art of winemaking in this captivating site steeped in history. After our masterclass on wine tasting and the wines of Provence, you'll sample the estate’s finest vintages. A great way to start the day!

12:30 p.m. : Lunch in a typical village bistro (not included in price of tour) - In the square of a local medieval town, enjoy a convivial lunch at a typical bistro, where local flavours will awaken your taste buds. We always reserve a nice table for the group, but you are free to go off exploring by yourself, or maybe bring your own picnic.

2 p.m. : Visit the second estate - A beautiful family-owned estate nestled in the heart of the Provençal hills. Here the vines are cultivated according to organic principles, and their extensive range of wines are certified organic. A peaceful and historic place where time seems to stand still, offering a truly unique and welcoming experience. On the terrace, under the olive trees, taste the estate’s finest wines, a pure expression of this exceptional terroir.

3:30 p.m. : Visit our third vineyard - A prestigious château set in an exceptional natural setting. Stroll through the vineyards with panoramic views of the Provençal landscapes. Visit the wine cellar where the wines are aged. And, of course, enjoy a tasting of the estate’s excellent wines.

5.30/6.00 pm: Return to the departure point in Nice - Your guide will drop you off back in Nice, after a day full of discovery, fun, and plenty of wine. You'll be sure to have lots of new memories to take home - and maybe some wine too!

We have a great time with Cedric! He was very knowledgeable about the wine and wineries. He gave us plenty of time at each place. The lunch we had in town was delicious! Would recommend this experience!

A Fun Day Wine Tasting in Provance!

We had such a great time exploring vineyards in Provance! Gigi was so friendly and made the day fun and informative. All of the vineyards were located in beautiful areas. It was nice being able to taste a wide variety of wine. Gigi is very knowledgeable about wine, and we learned a lot from her. We would definitely recommend this tour to anyone visiting the Provance region!

Everything about this tour was excellent. Our guide was a certified wine expert which was a definite plus.His approach was simple and straightforward. I think everybody left this tour with a greater understanding of not only rosé but wine in general. We would definitely use this group again when we revisit the French Riviera.

Almost Perfect: A Wonderful Wine Tour

We met with an excited group in front of Hotel Beau Rivage where we were picked up and drove towards Provence.

Our guide for the day was Franck. He was a great man with a lot of knowledge, and he told us so much about the area and the wines. It was both interesting and educational.

The tour was absolutely fantastic! We visited a mix of both larger and smaller wineries.

The first place we visited was Château Font du Broc. It's a wonderful place with plenty of great wines.

Next, we went to Domaine Valette, a small, family-run vineyard. This visit was incredibly pleasant, and I want to send a big thank you to Michel, who showed us around, chatted, and toasted with us.

The only thing that let the tour down was the lunch. We were sent to a restaurant called Cafe De Paris in Les Arcs. It took an extremely long time to be served our food and drinks. We had hoped to have time to walk around town and explore a bit, but we ended up just sitting and waiting. If it hadn't been for this, the tour would have received a perfect score.

After lunch, we headed to Chateau de Saint Martin, one of the few places that produces Cru class wine. This was perhaps the most "mainstream" place we visited, but it was a lovely place with good wine.

The group was very friendly and everyone was in a great mood. The wine certainly helped, as did simply being on a trip together, but we became a close group that stuck together for the day.

To be fair, there were some positive aspects of this tour. The vehicle was exactly as advertised - a Mercedes minivan, comfortable and on time. We did visit all three wineries on the program, each of them a beautiful and very different château. Our guide did his best to lead us through and keep the schedule precise. A nice lunch spot was reserved for us on the way, and overall we tasted around 15 different wines, which gave us a good overview of the region.

However, for a tour of this price level, the experience was a rather disappointing. It was 40°C outside, yet not a single bottle of water was provided on the bus. For a 9-hour trip, this is a serious oversight.

None of the wineries seemed to expect us. Unlike our previous wine tours in Italy, where the owners warmly greeted guests and shared their stories, here no owner appeared at all. Everything was handled solely by the guide: setting out glasses, explaining, even tidying up. At the last winery, there was not even a table prepared - we were left standing crowded at the counter, while other groups were seated and properly hosted.

Snacks to accompany the wines were essentially non-existent. Apart from some dry biscuits and a small jar of spread with one teaspoon for everyone, there was nothing offered, which is far below the standard of wine tastings we have experienced elsewhere.

Overall, while we appreciated the transport, timing, and the number of wines tasted, the organization, hospitality, and basic comfort (such as water and food) were not at all what we expected. The tour fell short of its promises and did not justify its price.

Wonderful Day Trip and Wine Tour

The tour started in Nice. The drive out to Provence takes just over an hour. It would have been nice to have some commentary about the region on the way out there but that doesn’t detract from the overall tour. We liked going out to the vineyard on the first winery and the guide explaining the soil and terroir. We enjoyed visiting all 3 wineries but Font Du Brac was by far the most beautiful with it’s stunning grounds and out of this world cellar (one of the nicest we’ve ever seen in all our wine tasting experiences). We liked the wine enough we bought a case and shipped it home. Chateau Ste. Martin was the last winery we visited and we didn’t think the wines were as good as the other two. It wasn’t as much as a “boutique” winery as they make wines, spirits, and limoncello therefore it seemed a bit more commercial, although it’s a small winery. Some people may like that though if it’s your first wine tasting tour. If there was one complaint, it was that upon arriving at each winery, our driver/ guide, also did the wine tasting and explanations. She was very knowledgeable but typically it’s the staff at the winery who do the tasting. She had to retrieve all the glasses for a group and then start pouring. Most wine tasting tours we’ve been on (and it’s been many) already have all the glasses set up. Additionally, we had to ask for water and some breadsticks which we thought should have been provided at each place. It would have been nice to have some crackers/cheese (charcuterie) at the first or second winery to accommodate the wines and absorb the alcohol as we were quite hungry for lunch. Overall it was a lovely day and highly recommend.

Thank you for your review and comments. We take on board your point about water and bread sticks at the first and second wineries. These are normally provided, so this was an oversight on this particular occasion for which we apologise. For information, the vineyards in this region do not provided chacuterie and cheeses as a matter of course, unlike some tours that you may have experienced in the USA. In terms of our expert wine guides conducting the visits and tastings, this is indeed how we organise our wine tours. Our tours are a narrated day from end to end, expressly so that your guide can relate your experiences at each vineyard to what else you have seen during the day. This avoids any repetition, plus allows us to give you an impartial commentary on the wines and for you to build good rapport with your guide. As you said, your guide was very knowledgeable. This may well be different to previous tours that you have experienced where you are simply handed over to the staff at each winery – again perhaps more common on tours that you may have experience elsewhere. Most of our guests do really appreciate this more personal touch as it enhances their enjoyment of the day. We’re glad that you found wines during the day that you enjoyed so much that you had them shipped home. Thank you again for taking the time to share your experience and for your “highly recommended” overall conclusion.

This tour was a fun way to see a different area of Provence given that we were staying in Nice. However, we are wine lovers and really enjoy good wine. Unfortunately, we wineries we went to were subpar and the wine itself was very cheap and not very good. We also found the tour guide to be a little scattered and not fully able to tell us much about the region or things we were seeing. He told us the wine tour is his side hustle and he spent some time doing his real job during the tour. We had a good day but it was disappointing that the wine and offerings weren't very good

Thank you for taking the time to post your review. Naturally, we were very disappointed that you had anything other than a 5-star experience. Your guide on the day was a very experienced wine professional, but may have not given you all of the attention you deserved, for which we certainly apologize, and he has received further training on that aspect of guiding our tours. As wine lovers ourselves, we however find it hard to understand your comments about the wine and the vineyards themselves. They produce award-winning wines, with very high ratings. Perhaps you find them cheap, because you are used to paying so much for wine where you come from? Most of our guests are more than delighted by the quality (and value) of the wines, and especially of course the rosé that Provence is traditionally famous for, and which is generally considered as the gold standard for rosé everywhere in the world. In vino veritas.....merci.

Our tour guide Hélène was very pleasant. We were 8 people riding in a van in the middle of a heat wave and there was only air conditioning in the first row. Very hot and unpleasant. The lunch meal was cold meats Cold egg tart, salad, cheese, and a cold soup. Very overpriced for 27 euro. During the wine tour, we would walk around the grounds of the vineyard, occasionally stepping over ditches to look at a house on the property. We left the last vineyard to get back into the sweltering van for the drive back to Nice. This was not the peaceful trip I had hoped it would be.

Thank you for taking the time and trouble to write your review of your experience. Firstly, we are sorry that your experience was anything other than excellent, the standard that we strive to achieve. Naturally, we are very pleased that you recognised the qualities of Helene as your guide – being someone who is by nature warm, welcoming and very friendly. Helene is qualified sommelier, with a passion for the wines of Provence, and we know that we can always count on her to give of her best on every tour that she leads. On the specific points that you raise: 1. The van that you were driven is our back-up vehicle, and was only put into service due to a technical problem with one of our other vehicles. As you rightly say, it does have A/C, but it’s not the system is not very powerfull. This was of course exacerbated by the heat wave conditions that you rightly mention – over which we naturally have zero control. We are very sorry that you didn’t get to be in one of our “regular” fully A/C vehicles, as this seems to have been the single biggest problem on your day out with us. In the event – it was either use this vehicle, or be faced with having to postpone/cancel your tour – and perhaps we took the wrong option? Only you can judge that. 2. With regard to the cold platter lunch, this is provided and served by Chateau Saint Martin, to whom you paid the price of 27€. In the description of the tour, we say in the section “Not Included” [in the price of the tour] that “Lunch is available at one of the vineyards, or in a local medieval Provencal village - budget from 25€ per person.” 3. In previous seasons, the vast majority of our guests who have had the cold platter/buffet lunch at Saint Martin have enjoyed it. This is especially so, given that the fixed price also includes plenty of wine to accompany your lunch (your choice of the same Cru Classé wines that you have enjoyed during the tasting), desert and coffee. Just to clarify the point in respect of the soup - it is a Gazpacho, a summer soup that is meant to be served cold. We will be raising the point that you make about the choice, variety and value-for-money with the owner of the vineyard, in order to help them to improve this offering. Naturally, we want our guests to feel fully satisfied with their lunch. If you come back to the Riviera again sometime, please do get in contact with us directly via our website and we’ll be delighted to suggest some other vineyards that you might like to visit, and also do everything in our power to ensure that you have the type of experience that is befitting a tour by Azur Wine Tours. The most amazing wine tour in Provence!

My friend and I booked a last minute wine tour of Provence from Nice in July 2021, and it exceeded our expectations in every way! Our guide Peter met us at our preferred pick up location (and was VERY nice about us being a bit behind schedule). He curated a custom day for us at three spectacular wineries.... in spite of it being Bastille Day, a national holiday, with many being closed! Each winery was different but special in its own way, and the tastings were spectacular. We visited Chatuea St Martin, Chateau Font du Broc, and Chateau D'Escalns (home of Whispering Angel!), and loved every minute. Peter was incredibly knowledgeable and was able to give us private tours of each vineyard. A 10/10 experience, for sure! Can't wait to come back, and would recommend to anyone else looking for a private and intimate wine tasting and vineyard tour experience in Provence!
